SILICUT - Titanium-Aluminum-Silicon Nitride coating



CHARACTERISTICS

SILICUT is a nano-structured coating, obtained by incorporation of nanocrystals of nitrides of titanium and aluminum in a matrix of silicon nitride.

The matrix forms a thin film around the nanocrystalline AlTiN, which act as strong interface and gives to the layer the typical structure of composite materials.

The high percentage of aluminum present in the layer allows the formation of a thermal barrier efficacies up to over 1100 °C.

The silicon, present in different percentages in the layer, involves the formation of a ceramic coating with high hardness, low coefficient of friction of high resistance against abrasive wear.

 

APPLICATIONS

SILICUT has been developed for application to cutting tools in carbide, used in high speed finishing operations, also with dry cutting and/or hardened materials up to 64 HRC.

Excellent results are obtained in the application in steel punches and in carbide for stuffing stamping and deformation of ferrous materials.
