Carbonred is the Titanium, Aluminium and Carbon-based coating developed by miniToolsCoating for application on shearing and cold deformation dies for stainless steels and light alloys.

Its nanolayer structure exploits the synergy between the properties of the different ceramic layers and their interfaces.

The presence of carbon in the superficial layers makes this coating particularly slick and hard, in addition to offering chemical inertness towards the ferrous and non-ferrous materials it comes into contact with.

Its nanolayer structure ensures excellent toughness, a particularly important feature in shearing operations.

When to use the Carbonred coating

Carbonred can be applied to shearing and drawing dies. We recommend that the surfaces be carefully polished, particularly in the case of deformation dies, in order to avoid the need for microblasting, which would increase the coefficient of friction and therefore undermine the excellent slickness offered by this coating.

Carbonred is also suitable for application on chip removal tools, particularly drills and taps, in the machining of steel and light alloys.
