Nanostructured aluminum and chromium coating made with AAI (High Ionization Arc) technology

The HALCROME coating is a monoblock aluminum and chromium nitride coating, created with a modulated density structure.

We also produce a LT (Low Temperature) version with a reduced deposition temperature of up to 250°C, for special applications.

Surface with reduced droplet count

The process produces a smooth surface that is resistant to high temperatures.

Density-Modulated Layers

AAI technology allows the coating density to be modulated by affecting the size of individual crystals. This creates unique mechanical and wear-resistant properties, such as a crack diffusion barrier.

Adhesion

Plasma surface preparation and AAI technology produce a base layer with a low number of defects. The coating perfectly conforms to the morphology of the cutting edge.

When to use the HALCROME coating

  • High-end coating for carbide (HM) and HSS tools;
  • High-speed machining, dry or under minimal lubrication conditions;
  • Superalloys and abrasive-filled polymers;
  • machining of high-performance structural steels;
  • blanking punches;
  • thanks to AAI technology, it can also be used for microtools.
