Multifunctional coating, combining hardness and toughness. Suitable for a wide range of applications.
The TiN coating is the most renowned and used among PVD coatings, combining a good hardness value with excellent toughness and adhesion to substrates.
TiN is also characterized by a reduced coefficient of friction and a high chemical inertness towards the materials it comes into contact with.
When to use the TiN coating
Its properties, which remain unaltered up to its oxidation temperature, allow TiN to be successfully used in all chip removal processes, as well as in different moulding, shearing and sintering operations.
In order to enhance the performance of this TiN coating, we produce special versions of it with dedicated loads and recipes that have been optimized for specific applications.
Some examples:- A version which is optimized for hobs and shaper cutters.
- A version with a particularly fine, almost droplet-free structure, for application on plastic moulds and sintering moulds.
- A version whose thickness is optimized for the coating of bevel gear cutting tools, such as Gleason-type solid milling cutters or Coniflex®-type blades.
- Production of TiN with improved corrosion resistance properties, suitable for specific parts in aggressive environments.
- LT (low temperature) version: coating temperature reduced to 300 °C for special applications.
